It makes no sense to deny people money for goods and services that already exist
unless there is a scarcity of money. And if there is a scarcity of money,
why would we spend it to study poverty
instead of giving it to people who are dying of poor health for the lack of money.

You can't study poverty without a solution to the poverty you study. The fact that you have no solution, means you have no solution, which is nonsensical. So you should support a guaranteed livable income until you know what the solution is.
